March 4, 1681. The patent for the Province of Pennsylvania to William Penn was executed.
April 10, 1681. William Markham was appointed by William Penn to be the Deputy Governor of Pennsylvania.
June 14, 1681. The last Court at Upland under the Duke of York was held.
June 21, 1681. William Markham sent out an official letter to the Sheriff, clerk, and Magistrate at Upland notifying them of the change of government.
August 3, 1681. William Markham arrived in Upland.
September 13, 1681. The first official proceeding under the government of Pennsylvania was held the Court at Upland in the House of Defense.
1682. William Penn drafted the Frame of Government.
August 31, 1682. William Penn sails from Deal, England.
October 27, 1682. William Penn arrived in New Castle.
October 29, 1682. William Penn arrived in Upland and renames the capital town Chester.
