Who are the police in Pennsylvania?
Title 3 P.S. Agriculture § 459-102. “Police officer”. Any person employed or elected by this Commonwealth, or by any municipality and whose duty it is to preserve peace or to make arrests or to enforce the law. The term includes constables and dog, game, fish and forest wardens.
In Pennsylvania, police are comprised of a variety of agencies all with different training requirements. These include State Constables, County Sheriffs, Fire Police, Special Police, Municipal Police, Troopers, Transit Police, School Resource Officers, Prison Officers, Game Commission, Detectives, Capitol Police, Humane Officers, Park Rangers, DCNR, and Fish and Boat Commission.
