Regional Communications: Using Zello
You can request from the regional coordinator the link to join the region 4 communication channels for backup communications and networking. Protocols for use listed below.
Region 4 Radio Protocols
- ELE Users will use their county name and municipal code number as their radio identifier. If there are deputies form the same municipality, they shall add a 1 to the ELE and a 2 to the deputy and so on. Example: Westmoreland 58 or Westmoreland 581 and Westmoreland 582.
- XOC Users will use department name followed by unit number assigned to them by their department.
- All units will name who they are communicating to first, followed by their radio call sign to initiate any conversation. Example: Westmoreland 56 from Westmoreland 581. Westmoreland 581 go ahead.
- Proper radio etiquette is required for use and everyone must be respectful during radio communications.
- Each unit should listen before communicating so they don’t interrupt or walk on another’s transmission. Make sure the unit speaking is done transmitting before keying up.
- Tac Channels are only for active work/duty and operations. Talk-around channels are for general conversations and networking.
- All communications should use common terminology with the exception of codes adopted for the region by the region coordinator which will be given out after the request to join is accepted.
- Any misuse of the radio network may result in suspension of privileges or permanent removal.
